The above recording is an arrangement of Tommy Emmanuel's Mombasa that I put together. I'm playing the acoustic guitar track. The bass part was played by Bruce Sklar (professional jazz pianist), and the congas and hi-hat are actually a loop in Propellerhead Reason.

If you haven't heard of Tommy Emmanuel, you've got to check him out. Goto www.tommyemmanuel.com, or head to YouTube and search for Tommy Emmanuel. He's by far the most talented acoustic guitar player alive. :D

So that's my off-season focus... music! Guitar, piano, organ, trumpet, trombone, vocals, whatever. Jazz mostly. It's fun! Anyone else spend free time in the off-months playing music?

Sounds like fun. I play during the season too, just not as much.

I've played trombone with a funk band here in the MRV. Definitely cool music. I'm still more of a jazz purist, but I can definitely get into funk.

I love jazz - bebop in particular..... Just can't find the players..

I play acoustic guitar very casually. I haven't had time to play much lately but used to play more. Mostly DMB type stuff. In fact, I hooked up with a few guys and did an online version of Grey Street. It was pretty cool. I laid down the initial guitar track, send the MP3 to a guy in Great Britain that did vocals, another guy did some other guitar stuff, etc. I did the final mix (no experience). Here's the end result.

That is my favorite DMB song of there newer stuff. Dave Matthews attended Yorktown HS for a short spell. I think it was before his family made the move down to VA. Some of the older lax players that I know said he was pretty quiet and chill kind of guy.

I'm jealous of all you guys that can play an instrument. I never had the patience. My little from has been playing guitar for close to 15 years.

What do you say to a drummer in a three peice suit?

"Will the defendant please rise?"

Sorry, couldn't be helped...

a "C," an "Eb," and a "G" walk into a bar. The bartenders says, "sorry... we don't serve minors." So the "Eb" walked out and the "C" and the "G" shared a perfect fifth.
