The guy has always been civil but I have never agreed with him. He bends data to suit his point.
For instance - he apparently is a big Berkshire East fan. I once mentioned something about the Beast and the Pioneer Valley. He went on to say Charlemont was not in the Pioneer Valley. I provided multiple sources such as the Chamber of Commerce, etc giving definition to the Pioneer Valley. His reaction was, "well, if you ask anyone there they wouldn't consider themselves part of it."
It is that type of twisting of information that largely made me ignore him.
