I tried to epoxy my ski top which was coming up right in front of the binding. I used an underwater flexible epoxy (see pic) but it did not hold. It was hard to get the expoxy very deep under the top as it’s a small crack. Would I do better with a better epoxy? Any suggestions for hearing getting more epoxy into the crack?

It may be best to actually remove the binding which may give you more flexibility of the top sheet to get the epoxy under it.
Another more radical option is remove the binding then cut the top sheet to lift it up, epoxy it, then put the binding back on.

Got you. I went out again today and did a bit more delamination so the space is a bit wider. I’ll try again with the west marine epoxy. Thanks for the thoughts.

I tried this a little differently. I widened the crack with some sticks, taped up the other side and then just directly squeezed in the west marine epoxy into the open side, using the syringe that holds the epoxy ,and mixed it in the ski. I got a lot more epoxy into the space than I did just trying to dab it in. I’m letting it cure for several days before trying it. Fingers crossed.

in my experience once the top sheet separates from the edges its over. not once has an epoxy held. especially if the injury is anywhere near the boot/center of ski. and ive had more days ruined than i'd like by snow packing into a crack in the ski.

What Kind of skis and how old? Also did you kick the shit out of them and for how long? If it is an old shitty ski then it just might be something that could not be avoided. If they are new Warranty?

I had a pair of Atomic Nomads separate at the tail. Finally gave up trying to epoxy it because it would never hold. The skis were not even that old. Atomic customer service wanted nothing to do with it..

These are 35 year old Tua Chouinard Tout Neige which have not had much use in the last 20 years because of family time and then not having much snow in the last 10 years in Connecticut. I went out 4 times this month after we had a couple of feet of snow and it was fantastic. My asolo double boots are even older in that they were used when I bought them. The Tout Neige is a great ski. I don’t even know what I would replace them with.
