The Cottonwoods (Alta, Snowbird, Solitude, Brighton) get a lot more snow, and are higher in elevation than the Park City areas as well as Snowbasin and Powder Mountain. That's why the Cottonwood areas will almost always have better conditions in April than the other Utah areas.

Alta has to close by the first weekend in May, due to it being on USFS land. Snowbird can stay open longer because it is on private land.

If Snowbird remains open after Alta closes, you can access Alta terrain fairly easily (especially Baldy chutes and Baldy Shoulder) from the Snowbird tram. Just be aware that there will be no lifts, ski patrol, or avalanche control .

Thanks. Useful info regarding the Park City resorts.

Just to clarify again, I know the best spring skiing in Utah/Colorado is likely at Snowbird/Alta, but I already did that last April (it was epic) and I want to do something different this year.

I did Snowbird last year in April because I knew it was the best and it was phenomenal. However, this year I want to do a different place. Is there any other Utah resort that skis good well into April or is Snowbird/Alta the only good Utah option?
you want high elevation, and Snowbird high as it gets in Utah, I went to steamboat for week of march (elevation maybe10,000 maybe and the only day it snowed was cement and it did rain, had north east conditions all week, so locals told me spring you need highest elevation mountain, colder, less sun melt, I did like Snowbasin http://www.snowbasin.com/tickets-passes/winter-rates/#/10Day/ but low only 9000 feet high not good in sun.Co resorts are higher up so they stay colder longer and, snow well stay better.:beer::beer:

Here's the thing with Snowbird..or any large resort..yes its great to try different places, thats my plan now, but there's a lot to ski there, it takes many many visits to really ski most of it. I've been going there for 12 years and still get dragged to different spots.
