TR :: Jay Peak - 15-16th Nov 08 - Pre-season turning again

Just a quick TR... Doesn't involve the splitboarding as i would have liked... there was too much wet stuff... and lots of bare areas... especially the last 500m that was all grass but still fun to ride on sunday...

frozen grass + flew flakes + flash freeze events = rideable!

In all, Jay has lots of snow made... and will open this weekends with at least two trails... Snow started to fall sunday at noon and as of tuesday morning they received 6in... Let's all hope the cold sticks around and brings regular snow events... would be nice to start saturday with a 12in base...

I was able to ride the whole way down on sunday... I don't see a problem! lol!

No, seriously, the mountain is white and the job is done on the Jet and Haynes... They're moving on to different trails tomorrow or something... With 2 consecutive cold days, they were able to cover what was left to do.

Nope! Jay has always been open to people skiing the mountain when closed... Being far from urban centers keeps the tourists out... No gappers around here... And it's on state land... so recreationnal statute prevails i guess...

Looking forward to hitting the lifts this weekend! First time in four years that I haven't hiked Jay for early season... looks like they buried the usual opening trails pretty well! It will be nice to have "at least" two trails for opening day to say the least as Jet and Haynes get beat on pretty bad rather quickly during early season.

Thanks River! I'm still in the mood for more NIN since i saw the show! And as for "video edit"... It happened just like this... I lay down the music at the end... was watching the video and it "fit" dead-on... Pretty cool!

3 days so far... not much powder... more like leftovers... but still... I'll enjoy the lifts this weekend until the snow comes for good!
