And why is oriental not PC. The area is the the Orient. When did that become derogatory and why?

Dude it hasn't been OK to say Oriental for like 20+ years.

According to Wikipedia:

In the United States, Ireland and Australasia (Australia and East
Asia), since approximately 1990 "Asian" has been considered a more
politically correct term for "Oriental", which previously referred to
people from China, Japan, and Korea and other East Asian countries.
This is partially due to the fact that the term "Orientalism" in
academia has become associated with the European colonial attitude
toward the Ottoman East.

Okay, it is going back to the original meaning of the Orient. So the Turks and other people of that area are Oriental. What is not PC about it? Becuase it is referring to them as people of the Middle Asia.

I've decided to refer to all people in the Western Hemisphere as Occidentals, and those in the Eastern as Non-Occidentals.

That's an attitude that is acceptable to septentrional culturals, but tends to confuse meridional folks.
