I am a fairly advanced skier who has never skied in the trees but would like to give it a try. Which tree areas at mt.snow, okemo or stratton would be good for a first timer ?

i second strattons choice for easy blue squar glades, the trees are well spaced and the snow usally not bumpy a good place for your first tree skiing experence or even a place to pratice !

Some of the main face and Carinthia glades at Snow are pretty mellow. Claim Jumper at Carinthia was a lot of fun last time I skied it... not steep at all and decently spaced trees. I also went in the Trails last time I was up which are steeper than the main face glades but still not too bad. If you can ski Olympic, you can probably ski Trails.

Mount Snow, north face

I know this doesn't answer the question, but I have to get it out. The glades over on North Face at Mount Snow, especially "The Trials" were absolutely heavenly on Monday.

That said, I wouldn't put a first-timer in there. I yield to the other advice. When you get comfortable thrashing through trees, then give north face a try

I skied the tree's about 4 years ago for the first time at Mount Snow. THe tree's that I skied were THe Boonies which is right next to One More Time, I would try others if I had the damn money to go skiing, have not been in 3 years because of money woes. I am hoping to at least get out to Wachusett once this year.......

I was going to say, plenty of cheap skiing up here but then I saw RI under your pic. Looks like you have to spend more in gas than left tix!!! (Especially if you come to my greedy "Empire" state...muuuhhahahahaha....Luke, I stole your skiing....)
There should be some kind of charity organization to help starving skiers/riders:sad:

Don't waste your time at Okemo. No real tree skiing there. Good groomed intermediates there though. zzzzzzz........

For sure.

Most of the tree skiing at Snow is mellow and very fun. The Trials on the North Face are highly underated, but not very difficult. The trees next to Ripcord are very difficult, and the ones to the left of Plummet are fairly tough.

I haven't skied Okemo in a decade but there are two clearly marked glade trails at the summit. One is called something like "double diamond" and the other I can't remember. They really aren't all that steep and are pretty open.

One of the best intro to glades but not in VT is Last Tango at Sunday River. Pretty open, not too steep. It faces east so it softens up fairly early, but also tends to lose cover quicker than some of the higher glades with more north exposure.
