This weather really has me bummed out, it just seems like we can't get a break and have a nice long stretch of true winter weather. It has come time to decide if I should go to Sugarloaf next week for vacation. My brother totally suprised me with a generous gift of a one week vacation good at Sugarloaf from now through February 10th, unfortunatly the loaf recieved lots of rain along with the rest of New England last week. Though they recieved 6" of new snow yesterday, it fell on top of sheet ice for the most part.

The only two chances I have to use my time off are next week and again at the end of January. The forecast for next weekend is calling for snain and freezing rain, yum.

I'd wait, too - although there's a bunch of nrew snow here now (about 6-8" on the ground), it's supposed to be 55*F on Thurs/Fri here with possible rain. Hope you get to use that nice gift......

Sugarloaf did get a bunch of rain last week, but the snowmakers and groomers have done an amazing job getting the mtn back into shape. It is going to be alittle warm this weekend but not in the 50's, mostyl likely mid 30's. Anytime in January is a good time for a visit. If you want to party a lot and ski a lot, come the last week of January for White White World Week.

What forcasts are you looking at? Temps are terrific up here(Bangor)...
Except for a couple days of lower 40s, but the mountain couldn't have experienced much havoc....

I skied the Loaf on 12/26 and it was like a popsicle, with crushed ice on a few trails. They've been doing a bunch of grooming and snowmaking though, so I imagine things are improving. I'd wait and go the last week of January. Party and ski during white world week...

Though I am really bummed out about the prospect of waiting one more month to ski at Sugarloaf, I have decided to wait based on the latest NWS forecast. The forecast is for 1-3" of snow tommorow then freezing rain, snow on Sunday into monday ending as freezing rain and a rain storm for next wednesday. I also want to go snowmobiling and the trail conditions are very bad right now. It's hard to believe that there is not a ton of snow at the loaf especially with all the snow we had here on Long Island this week. Right now we plan to go up January 31st-February 7th as I have to use this vacation package before February 10th.

It's hard to beleive that it is supposed to be 60F here on saturday. Something is really wrong with the climate when it snows in Houston and rains in Maine.
