242 can be downright treacherous at times. When approaching Jay from the town of Jay, right after the town there is a speed limit sign of 50 MPH and I have never noticed any other signs straight through until you begin entering Montgomery. Even in the best of weather and during the Summer, it is hard to hold speed through all the turns of 242. Definitely a road on which your maximum speed is very conditions influenced. On the flip side, I have been stuck behind many vehicles without snow tires struggling to get up and occasionally stopped on the side of the road with only a few inches of snow on the ground. Not the toughest of access roads but certainly no walk in the park. Glad everyone was pretty much okay with only four hospital visits. Good for everyone else for still getting a day of skiing in after the accident.

glad to hear injuries were limited and non-serious. that'll make an interesting story for the ski club.

Glad to hear the students were all safe. I run a class ski trip to Sunapee every year and this is one of the things I worry about. I always sit behind the driver and monitor the speed. Of course, I just shut up and let him do his/her work. The only time I piped up was one year when the driver got lost on the way to the slopes.
