He couldnt have been paying attention though. I think the video deceptively makes it look less obvious than it probably was in real life. When you see trees 30 feet in front of you, and the next trees are 450 feet in front of you and way below you, it should have been a clue.
The other thing I dont get is why didnt he just hockey-stop before he got to the edge? Unless maybe he was going faster than the video makes it appear and there wasnt time.
