I looked WaWa web site http://secure.wachusett.com/store/category.cfm?cat=1

Mainly interested in their mid week Bronze Century Pass. $199 is that a good deal? Can I get better deal if go through ski club?

I never been at Wachusett. In the same time Wachusett is only mountain I can do mid week daytrip often enough to make season pass worse to consider.

Can somebody compare Wachusett with New Hampshire same size mountains like Crotched or Pats Peak.

It is difficult to make commitments to pass without ever skiing at the place.

For the Bronz you only save $10 if you go through a GPS club.

Wachusett has some decent terrain, but no glades (dang old growth!) and only a very small area of bumps. Nothing really challenging although the trails from the summit are fun. Not sure what you're abilities are. Weekdays there usually are no lines for the lifts and night skiing is fun.

WaWa is a decent family mountain and I used to go for night skiing when I was in college in Wellesley for night skiing. I thought it was a great place for night skiing and one of the better lodges I'd been to at the time. I don't think it as good as Crotched and most certainly is not on par with Pat's, but those are clearly my opinions.

I do the vast majority of my skiing at Wachusett.

I don't get glades, mogul runs, double diamonds or other "extreme" skiing at Wachusett.

What I do get is 25minutes of driving from my home in Central Massachusetts to 1,000 vertical feet of skiing. Many nights I have my kids in-bed at 7:30 and I'm skiing by 8:30 until 10:00 PM.

I definitely get my $199 worth.

So $199/189 is a good price?

abilities okay probably for intermediate with a lot of room for improvement in techniques ... .more often I ski better I'll get.
WaWa only 1 hour 15 minutes a way for me....ironically between 1993 2001 I drove for work in Fitchburg almost every day but unfortunately idea of skiing never come across my mind:oops: at the time. Well better late then never.

places I would love to go like Canon and Wildcat realistically not possible mid week daytrip from Rhode Island to make season pass worse of considering

The pass is a good deal.

Wachusett is perfect for an intermediate. Lots of good terrain for you and you'll find Smith Walton and 10th Mountain to be challenging trails.

It's no Yawgoo of course...

I'll also add that the pass usually gets you some deals at Sunapee, Okemo and Sugarbush for when you want to head further north. And discounts at some western resorts.

actually my family went to Yawgoo only once about five years ago where my wife's skiing career ended with concussion :(

looks like I'm going to have to buy my first season pass to WaWa in May before prices go up

only problem how can I keep this is a secret for my ten years old ;)

I concur. $199 for a midweek pass at WaWa is a sweet deal. I'd get it if I didn't live in Maine.

Why keep it a secret? Bring the kid along. Weekend nights, although busy, are not crazy packed like the days.

I have to see if it worse to buy one for my daughter after all she in school. She will definitely try to skip school and go skiing :daffy: not sure if this is correct example of what important: skip school and go skiing or a vital importance of constant learning in school ;)

there is someone here who has a GPS club membership - the bronze pass was mentioned a few weeks ago and one of the moderators mentioned the persons name and suggested PMing them. any help here -again

I live 45 minutes door to lift from Wa-Wa and thinking of getting a pass for night skiing - figure six nights and I'm break-even. Ski 'til 10 and in bed at 11!

I've skied there less than six times and found the evenings to be crazy early - crowded trails with marginally skilled skiers on them but quiet after about 8:30ish. terrain wise - it's fine but I like crotched more.

do prices go up after end of may if you buy individually or how about with a GPS?

There are a lot of after school programs there but they usually clear out around 7:30-8.

There was the opportunity to buy at last years prices, but I think that's expired. The current rates will hold until early sept at this point.

Hey Mishka

It's worth it. I live in S RI, and my best friend and I hit up WaWa once a week, weather and schedules permitting, december through march. We usually either go sunday mornings or 1 night after work.

1000 vertical ft, good snow conditions, and 45 min from providence if you know all the dirty tricks/shortcuts.

It's no substitute for getting up north, but it sure beats sitting in front of the TV or the computer...

45 minutes from Provy? Is one of those tricks doing about 120 MPH up 146? ;)

Honestly.. it's like 30 from Worcester, 45 minutes from Provy is pushing it no matter what kind of road you take.

I got the bronze pass this past season. It's definitely worth it if you can get pass the crowds. The crowds are just a bad combination of low skill skiers in packed in a small hill. At times, they can be rude in the lines and you will get the heckling/taunting while on tenth mountain if you ever face plant in the bump field.

I figure its worth it if my schedule allows me to stay up till 10pm and just deal with the crowds for a couple of hours. Maybe go for silver and make early sat or late Sunday.

It's great during the day at midweek. You get freshly groom trails. Different skiers, locals that are more down to earth. IIRC, the school programs starts at 2-3 pm, that's when it gets crowded and the place gets hectic. Lots of school kids with very little supervision, I heard some chaperons say about a 20-30 to one ratio.
