Date(s) Skied: Friday Night 1/23/09

Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett, MA

Conditions: PP, Some Scraped, 30s

Trip Report:

So-so night tonight. Only skied about 2.5 hours, but that's enough considering I've been out 4 of the past 5 days. Made other plans for the rest of the night so I was gone by 6:30. Typical Friday night crowd... busy but not huge.

Ropers/Conifer/Lower Balance Rock: Conifer was ok... scraped in the middle with random mounds of LSGR with deeper LSGR and some bumps on the side. Ropers was good but really getting thin at the turn. Lower Balance was real scraped in the middle, leaving powder on the outsides of the turns.

10th: Scraped right in the middle with LSGR on the sides. Bumps were still a bit soft but the patterns still suck and will for a while as they'll freeze solid tomorrow.

Smith: Only hit it twice after grooming, so it was very nice. Beautiful PP the entire way and lots of air on lower. The snow up there right now is real nice when it gets groomed and stays nice during the day session, but there's so many beginners at night that it just gets skied off quickly. No way to avoid that unfortunately. Polar was in normal speed and had <5 minute lines when I was there but looked longer as I was leaving.

Piece of Cake: Took 1 run down it. Same 30 second run as always but at least I had pretty fresh tracks down it. Vickery was slow as ever and was having problems with the stop gate at the top which made it stop a lot. No lines at least.

Hitchcock/Frannies: Hitch was scraped in the middle and LSGR on the outside per normal. The mini park lost some spring on the small jumps (probably a lot of people doing what I did yesterday so they cut them down a bit lol). Minuteman looked busy (I hit it at 4 so it was ski on) and was still a bit slow.

I'll be back Monday and maybe later in the week.
