Trip Report:
Another pretty good night at Wachusett tonight. Again, they had a good crowd but no real lines or anything like that. They now have all 3 of the major mountain areas open with the addition of Conifer today. With temps around 20, snowmaking was in full force on 10th (huge whales), Salamander Cutuff (!), and Lower Balance Rock (!!!).
Conifer: A bit scratchy on the very first drop early, with the scratchies expanding down to the 2nd road by the time I left at 8:15. Lower was mint all night long. All in all, just nice to have a summit trail open and look for 10th to be open tomorrow. Polar was running a bit slow, but not bad and no lines.
Challenger: Easily the best conditions on the hill tonight with no scratchy areas anywhere. There were a few kickers off the side of the trail where the coverage dropped off. Good, fast, and grippy.
Ralph's: Some slick areas around the top, but most of it was in good shape. Like Challenger, it had some kickers besides the covered portion of the trail. Minuteman was slow again and had a much bigger crowd than the summit, but never more than a 10-15 chair line.
That's all for today... I'll be up there tomorrow in the afternoon to hit 10th for a while, Okemo Wednesday, and it's looking more and more like Killington for Friday.
