Date(s) Skied: Monday Night 12/21/09
Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett, MA
Conditions: PP, Windblown; Low 20s, Windy
Trip Report:
After the storm pretty much missed Wachusett, it still had to be a pain in the ass anyway by still giving us all the wind on the backside. Headed up around 5:30 and skied past 8. Cold wind most of the night that made for a couple trips into the lodge, but not too bad. Would've been better if I brought out the mask. Lines were a couple minutes long at some points but nothing bad.
Conifer: Only took one run right before grooming and it was pretty slick after getting beaten by the wind for a while. A few kickers popping up on skiers right to hit on the way down.
10th: Decent line in place now all the way to the left in the bumps. Skied it all night and it was fun. A bit slick in there but not too bad yet. The rest of the trail was pretty much mint... a slick spot or two down near the bottom but otherwise I was hopping out of the bumps and making some GS turns the rest of the way.
Smith: A little bit slick in spots, but overall not bad compared to most windy days.
Hitchcock: Connection is back between Minuteman and the Summit. Skied it a couple times. Guns blasting all night with some huge whales. They were a bit wet early but not too bad later on. Some fun kickers starting to form. It's pretty dark down there when the guns are blocking out the lights.
Ralph's: Decent. Typical Ralph's I guess.
Leaving for Mt. Snow in about 7 or 8 hours. Freefall and Beartrap are ungroomed... hopefully they're good.
