Date(s) Skied: Friday Night 3/28/08

Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett Mountain, MA

Conditions: Wet Snow early, almost flawless PP late

Trip Report:

Great night at Wachusett tonight, especially after the fog started to lift so you could actually see. The 5" they got was too heavy for any evident powder, but it flattened out into some of the best packed snow I've skied all year.

Conifer: Only took one high speed run around 7. It was a few minutes after grooming and was very fast. So nice being able to open it up on it with the mountain being empty.

10th: Bumps had good snow but the patterns just suck so much. The rest of the trail was 100% rippable, no better way to put it.

Smith: Also rippable besides a couple of slick spots right before the headwall. Almost felt like running the Great Race.

Look Mom: Great conditions besides a couple slick landings on 2 of the jumps. Halfpipe was closed and they were having a photo shoot on the big air at the bottom. Tomorrow is the big competition.

Ralph's: Had some mounds to jump over and was otherwise just a nice cruise.

Pretty much just yo-yoed the entire night, switching occasionally between the summit and park. I'll be back for more tomorrow night. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts because there's just 9 days left at Wachusett.
