Conditions: Packed Powder

Trip Report:

Ah, another January-like trip. The conditions are great for March. LAst year around this exact time, everything was slush and corn during the early spring. Now, it seems like we have a nice winter pattern. Supposedly, there's a couple of good storms coming next week. Tuesday's may have some rain south, but they look like some good snowmakers. Let's cross our fingers.

Conifer: Very nice tonight. Very fast also. I almost had my pass pulled once. I was going way too fast (in control, but even I know too fast) and the ski patroller gave me my first and last warning. I was careful after that. The whole trail was in good shape with nearly no ice the whole night.

Roper's Road: I don't even see why it was still open. The snow is only about 2-3" deep and half the trail is pavement for the summer roads. Where ever there was snow, there was also a lot of ice. Not a good trail today.

10th: Also very nice and fast tonight. The moguls were all ice (can we see a rebuilding Wa?) and most people who went in them ended up on the ground in a heartbeat. The trail was good the entire way otherwise.

Smith: It was very nice after grooming, but after 8 the left was pretty much windblown and the right was built up granular with ice patches embedded, especially on the steep. Lower was fast like 10th and Conifer.

Hitchcock/Frannie's: Most of it was in good shape tonight. The Frannie's cutoff to get around the park was pretty icy, but Hitchcock was it's usual good self. Hopefully they move the beginner terrain park to Frannie's next year and leave all of Hitchcock along. I miss skiing the middle of that trail.

Ralph's Run: Very nice tonight. Air off the little humps was nice, even at a slow speed. No ice to be found which was nice.

Sundowner: Good, and the spine was nice.

I don't know what the plans are now. Today ended Fridays and I don't know when Okemo will happen.
