Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett Mountain, MA
Conditions: Windblown before grooming, Perfect after grooming
Trip Report:
Day #22 of the year ended up being the second coldest with temps around 0 at the base and -6 at the summit. Place was as empty as it gets with all lifts ski on the entire time and more room in the lodge than ever, even with the Granite Room closed. It was very windy with upsloping winds allowing me to ski "God Style" (straight down, both arms out and letting the wind control my speed).
Conifer/Balance Rock: Balance was scraped at the turn off of Roper's, but the rest of the trail was nice. Conifer was the best trail before grooming with the least windblown spots. Lower Balance was good.
10th: Some windblown before grooming with the rest being dust on crust. The moguls were frozen solid. Like Conifer, the trail was mint after grooming.
Smith: Had the most windblown before grooming, was awesome the runs after grooming, then developed some scraped spots later on in the night. Still real nice though for the amount of wind. Polar was in full speed until 4, then slowed down a bit. Ski on all night.
Look Ma: The second little jump has a lip again (or lips... there are two seperate ones with one about a foot behind the other). They took out the box before the spine. Otherwise, not much has changed. The pipe SUCKED. Minuteman was in full speed and ski on all night.
I MIGHT be at Wachusett Saturday night... if not I'll be there next week. Next weekend is Stowe and the weekend after is Killington.
