Date(s) Skied: Sunday 4/3/11
Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett, MA
Conditions: Spring, Sunny, 50
Trip Report:
Rolled in around 1 and was very surprised at the crowd they drew today... they were parking cars in the lower lot before I got there, but I was able to sneak into row 9. Maybe 1/3 of the people there were actually skiing, but never seen anything close to the turnout they had today on a closing day. Hit most of the open stuff, including Balance Rock which I've never seen open on closing day. Didn't even come across any bare spots on it. Probably the best cover in the past few years for closing day everywhere else as well. Conifer and 10th were both pretty good, a little bumped late from all the traffic. Smith was ungroomed up top, widely spaced bumps and pretty icy in between. Hitchcock bumps had some weird lines but managed to get one going right down the middle. Ralph's was slow and sticky. Lots of people in the park, hit the tabletop and the last jump when I went through.
Took about 15 minutes to get out of the lot afterwards, everyone stayed right up till closing. Fun closing day. I'm probably done for 2 weeks now, should be out the weekend of the 16th-17th at likely Jay but we'll see.
