I haven't been to Wachusett's since last season but I'm thinking of going at night this week. I can't quite recall if they regroom the mountain for night skiing but I would guess that they don't. How are conditions usually? Is the mountain pretty scraped off? I'd also try to show up after the schools' have their practices so it's a little quieter. Any advice/suggests are welcome. Thanks!

They groom around 5 every night. Nights have been wicked busy this year. Either get there early or after 7 to avoid parking in the 3rd lot. Conditions have been excellent. There's a good base so they should recover from the rain quickly.

I was there Sat night conditions were excellent, no wind, 27 degrees couldn't ask for a better night until BOOM power outage. They ended up having to shut down the entire mountain by 8pm. Many angry patrons, they had to call in the cops for crown control. Not sure if it's true or not but rumor had it that there were sporadic power outages in the Town of Princeton due to Wachusett drawing all the power so the Power Co hit the switch on WaWa. Also heard that the Mtn receives 75% of their power from the new Windmills that were installed during the Summer. This problem will definitely have to be addressed by the powers that be.

Power outage - What a way to ruin a good night skiing session.

I was up there on weeknight last week and it was great skiing. No wait in the lines after 8pm.

Conditions have been great all the times I've gone up there. To the point where I was disappointed with Stowe's conditions on Saturday.

I was stuck on the summit lift for almost an hour during the outage the other night. They did give out vouchers for people who had bought tickets. Didn't hear the rumor about the town of Princeton, but there were power company trucks in the parking lot afterward with line workers doing something to some equipment so it at least looked like an 'honest' failure instead of some kind of retribution.

They generally start grooming right around the 4PM session change, sometimes a little later. They usually start at Ralph's and work their way over to the summit trails. I have hit Smith and Conifer as corduroy a couple of times this week between 6 and 7 depending.

Pre-rain the snow was in great shape, some of the best I have ever seen at Wachusett. It has been crowded here and there but not more than 5-8 minute lift lines (I only go nights, I've heard the weekend days have been a mob scene). Here's hoping for a swift recovery after today's wet.
