Will be staying in the Waterville Valley village for the first time and looking for people’s experiences taking the shuttle bus back from the Alpine ski area vs skiing back on the Nordic trails (Pipeline > Swans > Mad River). How much uphilling is required to ski back to the village ?

Haven't heard of many people doing that. I don't know that there's much uphill, but there sure isn't much downhill.

You're looking at probably 200ft of downhill in the first 0.5mi, and then >1.5mi with <100ft of downhill over the span. So, I don't think it's going to be much fun.

I don't know when you're going, but it seems worth pointing out that none of those are open right now, either.

It's a heckuva deal. Have to wonder why these events are midweek vs weekend. Not an ideal way to get strong viewership and people interested in competitive bump skiing.

Probably has something to do with the last-second switch from Utah to Waterville. Original Deer Valley dates were Friday thru Sunday, and last two years at Waterville the event was held on Friday thru Saturday.

Moguls competition postponed until tomorrow due to low visibility. Dual moguls that was scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled.

Snow was soft and the place was deserted despite the $26 lift tickets

They are putting the final touches (including snowman) on the new TBar and in their blog they announced it will open next week

Did they make snow on the t-line? When I was there last it looked like they did a half assed job on the trail cleanup, leaving huge rocks everywhere. It seems like they would need a 6 foot base to run the T.

No it still looks exactly like you described. Will be interesting to see if they can smooth it out somehow in the next few days.
Here’s the blog entry that says ”new T-bar opening next week”
