Trip Report:
I visited Waterville 2 weeks ago Trip Report and the conditions were not as good as expected. They hadn't received any new snow since my prior trip so I was cautious on the first couple of turns. That turned out not be required as the groom was deep, firm and predictable so I opened it up and enjoyed dropping deep arcs. All the trails were typical New England hero snow and myself and my group lapped the main quad quickly to get in what are always the best runs of the day. 2 hours later the crowds showed up so we moved over to the Sunny Side lift to escape the lift lines. Slopes started to get crowded and white ice began to show through so we throttled it back a bit. After lunch the mountain was primarily skied off so the GS boards came out to maintain a good edge. Lower Bobby's is still closed and probably will remain that way unless there is substantial natural snowfall. The remainder of the mountain is open and skiing very well at least in the am hours. Certainly mid-week skiing at Waterville would be what you'd expect on a normal snow year.
