Loon is supposed to rebuild the governors lodge soon and I assume enlarge it along with a new lodge at the base of Timbertown.
No idea when Timbertown lodge is coming, but West Basin is supposed to get a completely new lodge separate from the current Governor Adams. They may actually keep Governor Adams for a new admin building, that decision has yet to be made.

The lodge is impressive, but, if being picky, I’d like the top floor bar to be a warmer space in general. It’s overall a sterile feeling, with uncomfortable bar stools (which could be deliberate but I wouldn’t know). If it’s midweek you have to fetch food in the cafeteria downstairs I think. Just don’t feel welcome there.

Both the Freestyle (the big bar in the main base building) and T-Bars serve food every day except the last few weekdays of the season. Freestyle can definitely be louder and a bit more raucous. On nice days with the garage doors open to the outdoor fire pit area though, it's glorious.

While fairly quiet, staying near town square lets you walk to six bars/restaurants (La Hacienda/Chop House/ Valley Pub/ WV Pizza /Kalki Indian Cuisine/Coyote Grill) as well as a number of retail stores and a coffee shop. The shuttle (and hopefully future gondy) will take you right to the mountain, avoiding the rather unpleasant parking lot.

isn't the coyote grill at the racket ball club (?) not in the village area?

That's only about 1500 feet apart. Five minutes walk using the path up the stairs under the Golden Eagle archway or through the wedding arbor. We routinely have dinner at the Coyote then stroll over to the Chop House or Valley Pub for drinks.

I forgot about the golf course clubhouse too, same distance in the other direction from the square, but a great place for a beer or boozy hot cocoa while the kids use the (fairly lame) tubing hill.

I like T-bars, butt there again I like to lick cold steal. When I'm in that neck of the woods: HorseFeathers and Red Parker Pub. Go up hill over Hurricane Mt. Rd. if you need to get to Maine the hard way.

The lodge is eh. They put in a nice “grand” staircase spiraling up from the entry to the main floor. Then they took that out around COVId time to put in paid lockers (as all free cubbies are outside) at the entry and more seating on the main floor. That relegates everyone who wishes to move between floors to use the metal grated stairs (icy AF) outside or the ancient stairs that are steeper than heck.

They are also jerks and lock it up from the outside at 3:50 despite lifts still loading to 4:00.
