WATERVILLE VALLEY, New Hampshire -- Known already as a great family resort in winter, Waterville Valley delivers an "Unlimited" amount of summer fun too. Town Square Condominiums, Golden Eagle Lodge, Black Bear Lodge, Snowy Owl Inn, and Village Condominium all offer their guests an all-inclusive "Summer Unlimited" package with a boatload of daily activities. To start, there's two hours of mountain bike rentals, use of pedal boats, kayaks or canoes for an hour, unlimited play on the resort's 18 outdoor clay tennis courts and 9 holes of golf. You can also take a ride up the scenic Snow's Mountain chairlift, take in a Town Recreation Department story hour or open gym and enjoy unlimited use of the White Mountain Athletic Club with indoor and outdoor pools, Jacuzzis, steam rooms and weight room.

Waterville Valley also serves up a list of a la carte options. There's ice skating in the indoor refrigerated arena, skateboarding in WV Skate Park, Shakespeare in the Valley Theatre and weekly visits from the North Country Center for the Arts Children's Theatre. Waterville Valley is also home of the Curious George Cottage, former residence of Margret and H.A. Rey. The Cottage serves as headquarters for nature walks, writers groups and astronomy nights, some of them in conjunction with the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium.

In Town Square, there are live concerts on Saturdays and animal shows on Sundays. Special events include a Chili Challenge over Memorial Day Weekend, the annual Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks on July 4, Bluegrass Festival on July 21, Chocolate & Jazz Concert August 4 and Labor Day summer bash & fireworks.

Lodging rates vary by lodge and by season, but families can find reasonably priced lodging from $90 per night. Package rates include the Summer Unlimited activities. Perhaps best of all, you can park the car for the week since most lodges are within easy walking distance from Town Square and most recreation, but there is also an open-air trolley which shuttles guests to the various activities or just takes them on a scenic drive around the valley.
