For about 3 years now access to www.belleayre.com and their host provider www.catskill.net is not possible from work. I can access other ski area's web site (Hunter, Windham, Whiteface, Gore) but not www.belleayre.com or www.catskill.net. Does anyone else have a similar problems accessing either of these domains from where you work? I know I know, I shouldn't be checking out the ski conditions from work.

Who cares? Belleayre just kicked off another year with a horrible website. Last year the website was kinda crappy and outdated, but by now its becoming just HORRIBLE! It reminds me of Killington's website in the mid to late 90s.

What the hell is up with that stupid trail map that comes up in little chunks?!?!! "I have an idea, lets turn our trail map into one of those puzzles that everyone starts but never finishes! Then nobody will ever know what our mountain looks like!"

Yea, map is pretty bad.

You only need a map at Belleayre if you have absolutely no sense of direction.

If you want to know what it looks like, I have a ton of pics here.

Tired of that old recycled web site Belleayre throws up every year, I started blogging it so maybe some people could follow what is really happening there.

Finally, if the proxy servers don't work, since those are pretty well blocked too if your network admin knows what's up, you could always remote desktop to your home comp. If that fails, try using a bootable CD of Damn Small Linux.

That was my first thought too, but it seems strange that they would block their site and not the other ski area's. Also why would they block www.catskill.net which appears to be the area's local telephone company?

Many IT departments keep logs of all sites visited and look at the sites with the most hits. If certain sites are not work related and get an excessive amount of hits then they are blocked.
