"Snow gods must be appeased"
[a nearby resort] sent out email to 3,000 -4,000 pass holders inviting them to the annual bonfire.
...
The annual ritual has taken place for 60 years.
...
Not long after the email went out, the mountain got a phone message from the Department of Ecology, threatening fines and sanctions if the bonfire took place..
...
"We thought this was a joke" ... So he called back and learned it wasn't. It's illegal to burn skis and snowboards in Washington.
"Then I go, 'I'll just burn a pair of old wooden skis'. That didn't slide either. Skis are considered treated lumber."
I call rotten eggs. Don't they care about their unemployment rate or the ability of the electorate to enjoy the out of doors? :smash:
