I know they were having trouble with one of their lifts this week... Not sure when it will be fixed...

And they had SERIOUS trouble with their Gondola about 2 weeks ago, to the point where it's closed for the season and will be torn down and replaced with a Chondola this summer.

This weeks lift problem was a burned out bearing in a bull wheel that caused a fire. That triple is down rigth now, but they're apparently using a snowcat to transport folsk to the top of the chair where they can get access to the Lone Peak Tram

Well I spent two ski seasons living in Bozeman but mainly skied Bridger Bowl..I maybe skied Big Sky a total of 10 days with my frequent skier card. Big Sky is cool but they don't get the natural snowfall that Bridger Bowl gets to the north or Jackson hole/Grand Targhee gets to the south...plus it's incredibly rocky. From the top of the Tram..Liberty bowl, Bavarian forest, Lenin, and Marx are all awesome..I never had the balls to ski Big Couloir..which you need to check in with ski patrol and have a partner to ski as the exposure scared me. There are lots of nice shortish steeps(1,000-1,500vert) off the Challenger chair..and even shorter steeps in the bowl serviced by the Lone Peak triple. Over on Andesite mountain..it's predominantly intermediate terrain with some nice short steep sections near Elk Park ridge. The good thing about Big Sky is that it's empty because it's hard to get to and you also have Moonlight basin lookers right..Most of the tree skiing at Big Sky is pretty wide open and low angle..Big Sky is definitely a fun place to ski but definitely not Jackson hole in terms of expert terrain.

I wonder how skiboarder is doing. The skiing here is fantastic this week ( record season ) and the weather has been nice. They even got the triple chair working again to get to the tram.
I sent him a private message with my phone number and offered to show him some of the fun. No answer. Oh well.
I'm interested in his take on the mountain. GSS says he skied here 10 times a few years ago. This is a really big mountain with alot of terrain. It takes quite awhile to see/ski this place. With our new out of bounds gate and access to Moonlight Basin, it could take 10 years to ski everything here. I've been here 18 seasons and I still find plenty of new action.
I have a soft spot in my heart for MRG / Bush skiers, so, if in the future, if you have intentions on Big
Sky, let me know. I like showing off the area.
