Westchester County, NY and a Mountain near you!
Are you saying that is expensive? I mean it is a holiday week...You and your wife are going to have to spend at least $40 each for a tix. My only suggestion is that I think Mt. Peter used to do a free tix for your 3 y.o. with a paid adult tix. You can look into that.

just seems there should be both adult tix and kid tix available for just the beginner areas at a reduced price...Thunder Ridge used to have this and it was great...$15/adult, free for kids for their lift serviced bunny hill....perfect for 3-4 hours with the little ones....I dont want to spend $40-50 for a full ticket to spend 3-4 hrs on the magic carpet...

As Marcski said it is a holiday period...it will be tough to find deals. From my experience, Thunder Ridge tends to have very limited terrain offerings at that point in the season and tends to be pretty crowded due to those limited offerings. I don't know Mt. Peter at all, so I won't comment there. Southington and Sundown should both have good coverage and ample terrain open...Sundown will clearly have better snow coverage and may even be 100% open by then. You'll find more variety at Sundown...bumps, longer runs and steeps (if Gunbarrel is open), as well as a dedicated novice area on the far skiers left of the mountain (has its own chairlift and a handful of runs). Southington will be groomed corduroy edge to edge. They've got a WIDE open learning area and a long mellow run from the summit that would be good for the little guys.

For Sundown (since you mentioned it) you can do a Sunnyside only ticket for $33 each for adults, plus the $15 each for the kids... if that's all you're looking for. So that brings the cost down to $96.

ETA: Mohawk might be a good option, too. For their beginner area only:
Beginner Lift Only:
Adult / Junior (5-15) / Child (under 5)
Full session $30 $30 FREE
Half session $25 $25 FREE
