My wife and I are looking to spend New Years weekend in Lake Placid. Any recommendations on a place to stay? Willing to spend around $200/night. My wife would really like for the place to have a hot tub.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort. I just checked the holiday rates and price range is right at $200 (so after tax, 200+/night). I remember they have a built-in pool. Presumably, a hot tub should also be availble. As the name states, right on the lake.

Caveat, we have never been there. We stay at the cheapo place across the street (Mountainside Inn). But it does look nice

The Crowne Plaza Resort is nice. Stayed there for a night last year with the family.

Be careful though. Lots of sketchy places to stay up there. Leftover from the first olympics by the looks of them.

The Golden Arrow has a great location on the lake, right in town and underground parking which helps if it snows. The rooms are small and ~$200 a night for that motel is a lot of money. If you stay there pray that it isn't packed with hockey kids screaming in the halls all night.

See if you can get some discount room at the Crown Plaza. It's much nicer and not much more.

Still, the Golden Arrow is not bad at all, especially if that price get you one of the better rooms.

Thanks, everyone! The Mirror Lake starts at about $300 for those dates, so unfortunately it is out. The Crowne Plaza and the Golden Arrow are roughly the same price (200ish for a standard room and 300ish for a nicer suite). I'll keep poking around, but those both look like decent options.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza last year two weeks before Christmas and they separated the hockey teams by putting all other guests in the new wing and locking a door inbetween. (I would call and ask if this is possible this time)

For new years there definitely will be a hockey tournament with wild kids. I was one there about 14 and16 years ago. I would definitely take this into consideration wherever you stay as hockey kids can keep you up.

Hmm...someone at one of the hotels mentioned this hockey business as well. Thanks for the head's up.

golden arrow resort is right in North Elba, on the lake. Great central location.

My only complaint was that in the 1st fl level garage, when they ran the laundry it was foggy in the garage, and the misture caused something to drip onto the paint of my car that was VERY hard to get off...

Stay Away from the Crowne Plaza if there is a Hockey Tournament. They usually stay there and are animals!!! The Parents are even worse...Drunk in the hallways lying down on the floors!:smash::smash:
