Arrived at the mountain before the lifts had begun running and were in the first group to get on the Bobcat lift given the quad was delayed in opening (it wouldn’t run full speed the entire day).

Started the day skiing Catapult, Wildcat, Polecat, Cheetah, Alley Cat, Catenary, Tomcat Schuss and Wildcat Pitch and Lynx. All were quite firm (frozen) early in the day. The sun was fighting to get out of the clouds and it was quite windy. The bottom part of the mountain where they had groomed was quite soft but all the ungroomed trails were unskiable as reported above.

Finally, around 11 the sun came up and things softened up quickly. From here on out, we skied a combination of Upper Lynx or Upper Catapult, to Black Cat and then Panther finishing up on The Chute. Panther and The Chute were bumped up nicely but both are unlikely to last much longer due to some fairly broad, bare/thin coverage spots. Black Cat has good coverage but the bumps are oddly spaced and shaped and a lot of the surface is skied off to ice.

From previous April experience, I’d describe the coverage to be Patriot’s Day weekend – like. The coverage is a mixed bag IMO. Not enough snow to work up bumps on the top of the mountain but the racing trails off the Bobcat triple are deep but that’s not what brings you to Wildcat in April.

Sadly, we probably won’t be back this season.
