Yes, we do not allow political rants on the board. Feel free to comment or send your feelings to me or any one of the mods in a Private Message.

This thread was created because the Burke Mountain project was impacted by this proposal.

Seems to me, if the birds and bats are dumb enough to fly into the huge, slow moving blades, it may be better to have them out of the gene pool.

Remember about a decade ago when the 2 or 3 whales got trapped in the ice in the Arctic Ocean, and they got all kinds of press coverage getting them out? Well, the decision on when to head south for the winter is genetically coded. By "saving" those whales, the genes that didn't tell them to head south at teh right time were allowed to remain in the pool. That's not a good thing.

On a national level wind energy appears to be doing better than here in Vermont.

AWEA, American Wind Energy Association just reported that a record 3000 megewatts of wind power will be installed this year. New projects are being built in texas, Kansas, Oke and North Dakota.

There is a lot of wind farm development going on, and I count it as a good thing. Interestingly, the demand is so high, the turbine manufacturers are pretty backed up. I think there are only 2 or 3 companies in the world that make them- GE, a Dutch company, and I think one other. Hopefully more companies will start building them soon, which should lower the price dramatically. At this point, I think it's a tie between getting permission and actually building them for the title of biggest obstacle.

How come all the people who protested the wind turbines do not care about the helicopters flying around spraying thier herbicides to stop the hardwoods from taking over there factory forests up there? You want to have an industrial forest what better use than a wind farm, at least they don't need to spew poison to stay in buisness. Yes even in Burke you are surounded by it.
