I guess I'll start this thread for little updates on my western skiing this winter, mostly from Utah, but probably other areas too.

5 Dec 2025, first day of the season for me, at Solitude, UT. Pretty decent crowd, Friday being the new Saturday, but of course only Moonbeam (650' vert) and Link (beginner lift) chairs were running. If more lifts were open it would not have felt so crowded. Singles line only took about 5 mins. Supposedly 1-1.5 feet new snow coming tonight and tomorrow.

I've had a couple of good groomer days at Snowbird this week, Dec 9 and 11, 2025, skiing the WROD at Snowbird. No fresh snow, but 3000' of vert on decent manmade snow. Low crowds, walk-on tram rides, and mild weather. Too mild. We need a change in weather pattern to get more terrain open.

New The Nest Restaurant at the old Mid-Gad location. Lots of glass and fire pits!

28 dec 2025, I went to Southern CA for part of Christmas week and when I returned the snow was better at Snowbird, but not in a huge way, Snowbird got about a foot of new snow on Dec 26-28. They opened Little Cloud lift on the 28th. Regulator Johnson and nearby parts of Little Cloud Bowl remain the only advanced level terrain open at the resort. But now you can lap it without going all the way to tram base, More secondary trails in the lower Gad Valley side of the mountain are opening so trail traffic can disperse a bit better than before. Hopefully, Peruvian Gulch/Chips Run opens in the next few days to week? We need another couple of good dumps to get Mineral and most of the steeper mountain terrain open.

Clear visibility on Dec 28, 2025. Snowguns on all day. Finally winter temps, high of about 20 degs but felt warmer in the bright sun.

Looks much better then Colorado Jim. Our hotel let us out of the reservation penalty free so we are calling our CO trip a little early.

Happy New Year. 12/31/2025, Snowbird opened Peruvian Gulch yesterday, today was my first chance to ski it. Only access via tram, hopefully the Peru chair will be running soon.

Middle Chips, thin cover but decent surfaces. Could be scraped off like Gad side unless more snow soon.
