Wow - my kid is a black belt!

Just stopped by to brag a little... my 11yo daughter passed a grueling all-day exam Friday to get her 1st-degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate!
She has showed me a thing or two about courage and perseverance, I must say... couldn't be prouder.

Thanks... it was a pretty intense test... 4 mile run, pushups in the mud, the whole boot camp routine, not to mention knowing all the moves! At the ceremony at the end, everyone had to break a board (actually 4 of them) with kicks or punches, it was pretty amazing to see her do that. I guess it's not surprising that in her skiing, when she encountered moguls she took to them like a fish to water after all those balance drills!

Of course, the part I admire most is her sticking with it over the years, particularly on those warm summer evenings when her friends were all down the street at the lake. I can't say I could do that now, never mind at elementary school age!
