Some of my other favorate bands are alice in chains, sound garden, STP, godsmack, tool, disturbed and pink floyd.
nice pics. except the disturbed and metallica  ;)

I knew I would get harassed for liking disturbed... seems like one the most hated new bands around.
For metallica, I dunno how anyone can dislike them(actually I can because most songs they play on the radio are pretty crappy) listen to "call of the ktulu" IMO it is the best instramental(sp?) rock song ever made. :)

Disturbed isn't that bad. Of course, I only have their first CD and don't think I know any of their more recent material since I don't really listen to the radio. Metallica is just freakin amazing. I like that they're trying to bring back their older, harder, more raw sound, even though "St. Anger" can't hold a candle to "Kill 'Em All" or "Master of Puppets". 'A' for effort.

Well, I used to play in a classic/alt rock cover band, so I generally *don't* listen to that anymore! At work it's swissgroove.ch - a mix of lounge/funk/bossanova/whatever. At home I listen to whatever my daughter has on, which is not as scary as it sounds.

Yup.... I'm at the same place right now... But - I'm also getting sick of playing that kind of music..

Lately I listen to a lot of Trip-Hop/Acid Jazz stuff...

"Some producer with computers, fixes all my shtty tracks..."
great song, i busted a gut when i first heard that line. of course, that says more about producers than electronic music or what not. any ways... i saw ben folds live at the hatch shell a few years back in the rain. it was a great time despite the crowd being thin due to the weather. for a one man act, the guy is very captivating and a great show man. not to mention he has kick butt tunes. love the audience participation with the sing a long sections.

so cal, were all from the east except Oz who is moving out west to work for a freeride ski mag or something (Oz, can I please be you for a day? Just one day is all I need to make you disappear and steal your identity...please?)
Best bet is to ask tirolopeter, I think he is outwest more then the rest of us combined. I think he is usually in Utah, but like I said, best bet.

Yes, he brought his one man act to WPI my junior year and I saw him in our gymnasium. The crowd was anything but thin.

Memorable moments from the show I remember were like you said, sing along and 'audience participation.'

He played "Army" and had the crowd sing the brass and woodwind parts. And I'm proud to say, esp. for a tech school, we sounded pretty good.

Later in the show, he actually pulled out half written tunes he wasn't done writing and had us sing different parts for him and worked on them some right in front of us. It was certainly out of the norm, but really cool.

I love shows like that. I'd highly recommend seeing Willy Porter or the Samples live, they put on similarly engaging and thoroughly entertaining shows.

My take on Metallica is that many of their early albums were great. Master of Puppets, Black Album, And Justice For All just to name a few. The new stuff is just plain bad, particularly St. Anger. Unfortunately, many bands are headed in this direction.

indeed. i got out of metallica once re-load was released. load at least had a few good songs surrounding the crap, but re-load was a total waste of money.

Yeah, I got the same opinion too, except I thought the black album kinda sucked too, even though it was very popular. IMO ...And Justice for All... is their best album. I thought load was okay, but reload and st. anger are total crap...
