I like the countdown they have in the forums:

11,449,268 seconds until winter!

I'm an admin at PASkiandride.com, and I thank you for your comments. Your site is a great site too, btw.

We may not have the big mountains, but we definatly have big enthusiasm. Only 11,492,962 seconds until winter!

Welcome AtomicSkier. Maybe we can work together to get some PA mountains on board to participate in the AlpineZone Ski Area Challenge...

Good 4u Atomic, you go with what you have and make the best of it. Now I've only heard bad things about Poconos areas (small, crowded, etc.) and I want to get a reference. If Jiminy Peak was down there would it be a major player?

Hello from paskiandride.com

Hi all,

www.paskiandride is an offshoot of an overly moderated board from one of the pocono mountains. The board is growing steadily. Our philosophies and moderation rules are similar.

Maybe we should consider reciprocal links?? I know that topics requesting info on mountains in your region periodically are posted. It would help to have a Mountain rep stop in periodically, we could do the same if you want to create a PA mountain category. Let us know what you think!

You have some nice features on your site.

Stop over and say hello - I'll start a thread under "other mountains" letting everyone know you guys are up here!

Rob

Little suprised that they don't have a specific forum for Seven Springs - PA's most popular and one of the ten most popular mountains on the East Coast.

It certainly lacks Vertical, but I digged skiing and hanging out there. Great Apres ski scene.

IMHO - Seven Springs is the best ski resort experience in the mid-Atlantic region.

Last month we added the Central PA Category. A couple from Seven Springs have logged in and there is a separate thread under the Other mountain Category. We are committed to giving each mountain there own forum as users increase and request the same. Stop on in and make your feelings known!

I particularly found this notice interesting:

Do you work for a Pennsylvania mountain? 6/22/05 10:15 PM

We are actively seeking Mountain Representives to post information regarding news/opening days/events. Ideally, the representative would be active, and participate periodically in thier respective forum. Please contact us here for more information.
Reminiscent of our ski area challenge which has resulted in some ski area reps posting here. Really nice site.

While the Poconos is certainly no Vermont, and of crouse no Utah, we make due with what we have. My home mountain (Blue Mtn) has almost 1,100 feet in vertical, though most mountains in PA are under 1k. It does get crowded, but hey, we're not talking about huge acreage here.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and Papasteeze is our PR guy :argue: We still have more skier members then snowboarders, and alot of the skiers are new school, but we do have some racers, including myself that are still old school. It's definatly a nice balance.

We have "PASR days" at each mountain where Me, Thinksnow (another admin), Dthmtluncrn meet up with the members at their home mountain to get a feel for the rest of what PA has to offer. It's really fun, we usually get some video, and have a blast.

Good for you guys. Most of us are a bunch of old farts (80% of AZ visitors are over 30), but 4% of us live and ski in PA. Check the demographics thread for more info. That's great about the "PASR Days". We had a few gatherings last season and I'm sure that we'll have a bunch more this season. See the T&E board. Feel free to jump right in if you guys head up to the NE.

We have a house in Windham, VT, right by Magic Mountain, and not too far from Bromley, about about 30 minutes from Okemo, so I make it up to Vermont frequently, though only twice last year.

I think our demographics are much different, our average members age is 17 maybe? We've never had any problems though with n00bie kids trolling around, and some of our best members, are the ones that are over the hill, but still skiing on it..haha.

Our gatherings are great. One of our best was in the pouring rain, foggy, warm, and definatly wet. We had a great turnout, and had the WHOLE mountain to ourselves. Everyone got to run NASTAR for free, the terrain parks, for the twin-tippers and boarders were amazing, and it was just a plain blast.
