This is a terrible tragedy and I don't fault Shane for his choices. Would you place blame on an astronaut if he died in a shuttle crash and left behind children? There's certainly a high percentage of fatalities in that field. How about an Alaskan fisherman? Bottom line is people do what they're good at.
That said, his child should be financially taken care of by his professional sponsors. Risking one's life for the purpose of pushing a product (Red Bull, K2, etc) should include that benefit.
And at the risk of sounding callous, I think it's safe to say that Red Bull does not, in fact, give you wings.
