Never been to Windham until mid-Jan this year and as I looked over to an unopened West Side at Hunter and Windham was 90% open I thought maybe Windham now had the mantle.

Either way, it ain't Hunter........

Well when you can just light a match to taxpayer money, why the hell not. They should be making snow as much as possible.

The cost is a rounding error to the overall state budget.
2018-19 budget for Winter World University Games
In April, the state committed $62.5 million in its 2018-19 budget to upgrade ORDA facilities. I believe alot of the housing is a 1 shot deal. People used to get pissed about the money state spent when it was DEC with ORDA not so much

cannon and belleayre both snowmaking heroes. yay for socialism. yay for the governments of ny and nh providing quality recreation facilities to their citizens and visitors.

belle posted this pic or a similar one with a quote like 'someone called and asked what trails we made snow on. we just said yes' :)

Not specifically tied to snowmaking, but the “throw money at everything until your problems go away” solution is one Belleayre seems to like. Maybe they cleaned up this year, but in years past seemingly simple things just don’t get done right. Certain lifts open 30 minutes late sans explanation; a handful of trails are virtually abandoned with 6 foot tall brush and fallen trees; foodservice is a mess with often slow service, poorly trained staff and certain menu items being almost never available; perfectly skiable trails are often roped off (cough cough Utsayantha) and the closed trail policy is different depending on what patroller you ask; I could go on. But when your business doesn’t need to turn a profit, these are all superficial.

Putting all that aside, that is an awesome pic. I’ve always thought of Belle as having good snowmaking, and with the double rainstorms, they need it. Hoping this Friday’s storm turns the winter back around.

Belle has done an awesome job this season.

Skied there this past Sun and Mon hands down the best bump skiing I have enjoyed anywhere this season.

think I read on one of the Hunter FB groups, a long time Hunter ops manager and others from the snowmaking crew are now wearing Belle jackets.

True...

But Bruce did not start out well at Belle. He brought the groom everything mentality from Hunter and it did not sit well with Belle regulars. To his great credit he listened to all of the complaints and rectified the over grooming. This season the bumps are in all the right places and they have been left alone. Thaw/freezes have been countered with snowmaking resets instead of brutal grooming.

Bruce Transue? Is so, he is awesome. I went to school with both of his sons. That guy could make snow, no surprise Hunter's snowmaking has tanked since he left.
