I had some of my better turns of the year today and also some of my worst. it was mostly good but not one of those days you had to constantly control your speed.

Did you go into the trees? Snow report lists some glades as open....

DJs has been listed as “may open” on the report for several days now, when was the last time it was open ? Or should I say when was the last YEAR it was open ?

I skied Tramline in the epic winter of 2011 and even then it was pretty hairy, but definitely as filled in as I've ever seen it.

Kinsman may be the best glade in the east when it gets enough snow. Which isn't all that often.

If DJ's didn't open over the weekend, I dunno if I'd count on it opening until it snows more. (Maybe scratch that, could be that they're waiting for the recent snow to settle and fill in all the nooks and crannies between the boulders so they don't end up swallowing someone's leg.) Feels like they may have been teasing it on the snow report to get more weekenders to show up. Not seeing any mention of it on today's report. Scratch that too, I had ctrl+f'd the mountain report but the trail report still has it as "may open".

In summation, who knows.

Here are some photos from 2013. The last time it was open while I was skiing there.

There have been track in DJ's before last Saturday's storm. Not mine though. It is still thin up top.

I'm kind of amazed that we're even talking about DJs and Kinsman this season. I know there's been a lot of snow the past couple weeks but I would have guessed it wasn't enough to fill in the snow deficit.
I mean, Kinsman doesn't need that much more snow than the average glade to be skiable. Tramline needs one of those 6 foot Sierra storms though.

Killer day at Cannon. Nice to hang with Puck It, Xwhaler and the Cannon regulars. Kinsman in perfect packed powder shape. Minimal boney areas compared to normal.

Yea I’ve never skied cannon with as consistently good conditions as I got today. Really worked the place. Such fun steep tree skiing when the snow is in!
