Choosing between a Montana mish mosh (big sky, Indy places, whitefish, with a lot of driving) vs a repeat of last years banff revelstoke combo. Leaning toward Canada it’s just so cheap and I like Canada a lot
I drove by Lost Trail Powder Mountain a couple years ago and I’d definitely ski there if I were bouncing around Montana. It’s got some really fun looking terrain.

Did those 3 last year. Fresh powder all day at Blacktail. Snowbowl is great these days with the 2 new lifts. Whitefish was a bust, too cold to open anything above the lower HSQ.

With that said, I just booked a flight and finalized the Canada trip. It’s just so much less expensive and less driving. The Bozeman to big sky daily schlep is a lot, and covering whitefish to big sky in one trip (with flights at Missoula) also was a lot. Staying in big sky is too expensive and also kinda boring. Banff and revelstoke and maybe an audible to red, sun peaks, kicking horse. Lots of options. Very very affordable to be there for 2 weeks.

How much is a flight to Calgary? I feel like that would add a few hundred compared to a domestic flight.

$650 direct on air canada, from newark. it was more expensive and not direct to go to albany. all the missoula routes were similarly priced. newark to missoula with a transfer was doable in the high $400s.

i'm looking at $500 car, $650 flight, $1600 hotels - $2750. banff has a lot of sort of dated hotels that are nicer than motels, have pools/gyms, and tend to have a shitty lobby restaurant. i have a one bedroom loft suite with a kitchentte and a balcony for $900 usd for 5 nights. i have a motel room in revelstoke in a clean recently renovated place i have stayed before for $700 for 5 nights.

still need to book a hotel for the last 2 nights. last night will be a very cheap calgary airport hotel. second to last just keeping it flexible for now.

food is cheaper in canada. weed is very cheap. alcohol is expensive and i dont drink much.

I have a week at the bird booked mid feb. It was pricey ngl but the family picked it and its the last year with entire family for awhile as oldest is heading to college next year.

Canada was so inexpensive last year. I will try to book another week solo back to revelstoke if conditions line up with a break in kids sports schedule.
