That place stinks of brussels sprouts! It’s actually kind of interesting brussels sprouts and cauliflower. Roasted vegetables, healthy, lodge food. And you know they still have dollar cans of beers? It’s actually two dollars now but damn. Snow or rain up there? How was it?

Rain at Berkshire East on Friday but it did not refreeze so conditions were nice and soft (but freeze coming mid-day Sunday). Weird crowd with bus loads of tourists/first timers and swarms of racer kids, but lodge had empty seats and old summit lift was ski-on. Almost all snowmaking trails now open - only UMass, Hemlock, Chute, Thunder/Bolt remain.

I avoid Grizzly on icy days but today it was good.

Hitting Mt Abrams tomorrow and similarly concerned. Warm today and getting quite cold overnight, not in the mood for boilerplate.

i could have pivoted yesterday to vermont or quebec, but im locked into a bethel hotel now.

i am being stubborn. long weekends i like to get to places that are further away, and maine is still quite far for me, even living in the hudson valley . and i dont want to burn jay and bolton days right now.

the GFS keeps showing a noreaster on Sunday > Monday, but it keeps wobbling between being coastal vs out to sea. out to sea seems to be winning. id love for that to make a hard left turn and give us a monday maine powder day.

watching radar and webcames and it looks like snow to me north of route 2 in maine. hopefully some accumulating showers thru the weekend.

From social media, and pics Burke posted, looks like at least some snow up high. Additionally, their snow report is indicating at least that most of their natural runs are open.

Its gonna lock back up and not just at burke. Maybe up high the trees stay skiable? Its coming in real cold in proper northeast fashion

Short term loss, long term gain. Their base was pretty good two weeks ago and now will be solid for the remainder of the season.

They posted some eye candy on Facebook saying they're one trail short of 100%. Might be better than expected I guess but I'd be apprehensive of the hardpack underneath.

and saddleback is touting 5" fresh and 90% open with casablanca rope drops today. that could be a move via bethal too.

and the SR PM report says 5" top of jordan and 2" in the basins.

yay weekend yay ski.

back to burke - when do lifts go on weekends? i cant find a straightforward lift hours page.

I don't see them either so I got curious and called. I get "call failed" on all numbers I tried. Something weird happening there. This is AI:
