Congrats to the family.

Seems early (to me) for the notifications to go out. Seems I recall our female team mate making it last year and getting notified after the 8th week of racing ("this" week). EDIT: Just checked NASTAR...selection is made on the 18th of Feb, top three competitors in each age/gender category. Top 3...again, congrats to the fam!

Obviously I have not yet qualified else I'd know the answer to this one: Aside from a letter in the mail, is there other means of determination?....like they tell you via e-mail, via the NASTAR page?

So, are they "going"?

All qualifiers get a congrats banner on their race record on nastar.com

I'm not sure if I'm going yet. Probably be a last minute decision if I can get some good deals. I went last year and won the silver division, qualified in gold this year.

If you can go I highly recommend it. I had a awesome time last year.

Maybe you would have made it if you didn't sandbag so much to stay in gold.

I dont think that mattered as I was Platinum twice monday. But tell me how this makes sense, 4th nationally with 1 from whiteface and 2 from midwest ahead of me and 7th at pats with the 1st place 175 nationally 2nd 56 and 3rd 45th.

It's because the qualifying is screwed up. One good run will qualify you. You have a much better state and national ranking because you are fast consistently, so your averages are good.

Somebody could run 16s all year and then get a 6 on a day the pacesetter was slow and they would qualify ahead of someone who always ran between 8-10.

Yeah that doesn't make sense at first.
However if you plug all those numbers into the NASTAR formula . .. the result is "T_S is an old fat guy who wears spandex and who is too cheap to go if he qualified anyway. " ;)

He qualified in the Power Ranger division... sorry Dave. Really does suck. Would you have gone? I think it cost me 1,000 basically for 4 days last year.

Oh yeah, you're plats wouldn't have mattered because they both were on the same day. For national ranking they take the best hcp on your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best days and average them. So depending on the numbers you would most likely need at least 3 plats on different days.

I think I can win gold. Last year I would have been 3rd in gold and I'm skiing much better this year. I like a good challenge.
