Never had one. Thanks to LOTS of hand washing and mask wearing that I do most days, I'm usually fine with respect to work. My more typical germ invasion comes via my kids and the extra large "petri dishes" that most pre-schools and for that matter ski schools become in the winter months.

No thanks for me. Immune system has worked well for me for the past 29 years. Will trust it to keep all but the common cold out of my system during the winter.

I've never had a flu shot. I have myself convinced that this year's flu shots are produced with last year's flu virus strains, so likely not very effective.

I think I got one once, that was several years ago. Don't see the need for one. I'm not big on drugs and shots just for the sake of maybe preventing something.

Nope. I usually only get sick once a year, and only briefly.

It seems to me that people who are overly protective of themselves to make sure they are clean(as in always washing hands) and getting shots seem to be the sickest people I know.

A former co-worker of mine was ultra OCD and always going to the restroom to wash his hands. After washing his hands, he would use the paper towel he dried his hands with to open the door. I never knew any one that was sick more often than he was, and he was a young and fit guy in his 20s. Some scientists have proposed that ultra clean and incessant hand washing actually predisposes the body to getting sick more often because teh immune system can not build up tolerances. Not saying that hand washing is bad of course, good to clean the petri dish at regular intervals throughout the day. But the obsession not to get sick seems counter productive to me. I usually get a minor cold between the seasons changing twice per year.

But I can see why people that are at higher risk of illness and older folks might be more needing of a flu shot. If getting the flu would put major complications on your body and immune system that might already be dealing with other issues or otherwise compromised already, seems like a shot would be a good idea. But it never made sense to me how much healthy people get a shot every year.

that's generally how I feel as well

What are people's thoughts on other vaccines, especially for kids? The linking that some researches claim between vaccines and autism gives me pause for when I become a father some day.

I get mine every year. the hospital i work in sets up in the lobby and gets you when you are leaving work. If you dont get one they make you sign some kind of release stating the reason you dont want one. Easier to get the shot than deal with the Infectious Disease people that work there.
Like Dr Jeff and others that work in the health field, i wash my hands constantly and have been lucky. I also work in the Pediatric unit, so i think i have built up an awesome immunity <crossing my fingers>. I seem to get more sick with colds and stomach viruses from my kids at home than my kids at work.

Vaccines for kids....hmmm...well my kids got them. They cant go to school if they dont. My opinion regarding the autism/vaccine issue....i dont believe it. I mean we have all been getting our vaccines for years and only recently have they saying that it may cause autism. I think that pediatricians have a tendency to over diagnose/over medicate. I had a 7 yr old admitted last week and when i asked the mom about his history she started telling me that he was diagnosed with autism, ADD, ADHD, PDD, ODD...etc....i actully blurted out...."any other letters of the alphabet they forgot to tell you about??" I mean, give me a break....most kids can be on the hyper side...they ARE kids afterall and as for ODD<oppositional defiant disorder>....can someone tell me that their kid isnt DEFIANT?? Hell every teenagers i know could be diagnosed with that...including my own.

No, never had one nor the need for one!

I have worked daily in and around sanitary sewerage for the last 14 years and from this constant exposure to bacteria my immune system is pretty damn strong!
