Resort or Ski Area: Sunday River

Conditions: Variable / Wet Snow

Trip Report: Got out for while between 11 AM and 1 PM on T2 yesterday. The snow was good, nice big bumps to play around in. The amount of traffic on T2 got it bumped up pretty good. No pictures as I was having too much fun skiing to take pictures.

Unloading at the top was a bit sketchy as the locke ramp is steep and there was not a whole lot of room at the top. The choke point right next to the lift kept getting backed up from people stopping there to strap in to their bindings / put hands through pole loops... Coverage was great. Got my first couple falls of the season out of the way, including one where I came around a bump to find a snowboarder laying in a trough obscured from above. I fell to keep from running him over.

It was interesting riding the chair down holding my skis... that was a first for me.

Looking forward to next weekend as they should be able to open a bunch of stuff through this week.

It was great to get out and start my 08-09 season.

The small park looked good from the lift though I did not hit it as I'm not a park guy.

Glad you got out.
You picked a better time than me.I was out in the NCP. I did not down load..I took Sunday Punch down and walked the last couple hundred yards. Coverage was the best of the season a few rocks exposed on the head wall when I left yesterday .Less than the last couple of weeks.

Still a fracture in the snow at the bottom of the headwall. Cascases, Jungle road, Upper punch, Right stuff and Jims Whim all had snow on them. Upper punch and Jims whim and Jungle are just about ready to go.

I also was there yesterday. Got up top about 9:00. Rained till about 10 and then started to dry out and get windy. Skied till 11 when my legs started giving out. I also skied down Sunday Punch instead of downloading. Not bad for the first day out.
