Sounds like part of your reference point is the Front Four. For the record, Goat, Starr, and the Upper Part of Liftline do not have snowmaking or grooming. 2/3 of Liftline and National can be groomed. There are some natural snow runs that are not groomed nor see Snowmaking. Some of those runs are on Spruce Peak...and that peak has a Southern exposure which hurts it.

Pretty dicky comments, billski.

For the record again, I pay for my Sugarbush pass, thank you very much. I chuckle when people pull out the "bias" card.

I had a decent experience today...but I had set my expectations accordingly.

The only bias is when you either don't read others comments, or slant your view so that you aren't wrong. I don't know what trails you were looking at today at Stowe. I'm sure parts of Castlerock were nasty. I wasn't there. I skied Rim Run, Elbow, Lookin' Good, Upper Lookin' Good, Lookin' Good, Northway, Which Way, Cruiser, Straight Shot, Walt's Way, and Snowflake. I probably missed one or two. They were either blue or green and all but Upper Lookin' Good was groomed. I did not ski the ungroomed runs, but they were variable.

And as for BMM, I will let him respond, if he gives you the time. He was pretty clear what runs were groomed. I can't speak for who pays him or how he gets his pass. But there was nothing misleading here.

All in all, it sounds like you are  because you had a bad time. Sorry about that. I can't control the weather, but I can control my perspective and attitude. It is what it is, and I did laps on groomers, but it was better than working.

For some reason "trailboss" (whatever that means) seems to have a need to personally attack me. I've seen this very juvenile behavior from him on a regular basis. It's hard to take someone who choses to to cast infantile comments like " Pretty dicky comments, billski." seriously at all. If you are unable to make comments in a mature approach without throwing personal attacks, I can't consider your opinions credible at all.

Please also note that I don't find your know-it-all attitude to be very authoritative at all. In fact, Upper Hayride was very much groomed. Were you there today? From where do your facts come from?

It is very inappropriate for "trailboss" to draw conclusions about my experience. I, in fact have a very good day. What you fail to be concerned with is that a trail report represents one person's opinion, and you are unwilling or unable to cast your comments in a context by which a wide range of readers would appreciate.

And of course you paid for your pass, that is why you most certainly have a vested interest. Again, you read way too far into a comment and draw inaccurate conclusions. Look carefully again at my comments, if in fact you are capable of doing so objectively and you will see that I have given o consideration that indeed conditions at both resorts could in be different. Skepticism is healthy.

Why do I waste so many comments here? It's certainly not for "trailboss". It's for all the other readers, especially the newer ones who have no understanding of "trailboss" competencies or interests.

I have no interest in continue this thread, as it simply will degenerate into a flame-fest which "trailboss" historically has thrown himself into without respect for another's opinion. Can't have a debate with someone who has already made up their mind, and already begun to cast stones.

Oh lighten up. The skiing was much better than you would expect after this kind of weather. Definitely firm, but very skiable.

I'm done with this discussion.

Trailboss... maybe you saw me. I was wearing my gray/blue coat and my vintage Fate mogul pants. Took a couple runs with the old man, along with the rest of the fam (most of it, anyway!).

I spent today (except one run on Exterm/Cliffs) skiing with my grade-school aged siblings, and my mom... all of whom are beginner to lower-level intermediate skiers. They had a great time. They noted that it was a little hard and slick in some spots, but really had a great day. And before you ask, no... they don't ski nearly as much as I do. It was my mom's 2nd day this season, and about 5th day since 1986! Don't be so quick to point the dismissive finger at those of us who happen to live and/or work here.

No offense, but it's entirely reasonable to be cast a healthy skepticism upon a resort-paid employee of high-end skills making a very brief comment such as "Sugarbush Mt. Ellen was really nice today." I stand behind my remarks, since it's only in your response thread that I had hope to provoke the necessary data to support your opinion. To appreciate that your comments reach a wide breadth of readers who are unable to readily ascertain your qualifications when cloaked behind a pseudonym is crucial. You're not just responding to me, but your comments are being read by many who do not spend the time looking back through the history of your prior remarks.

I certainly allow that the conditions at two resorts many miles apart are entirely different. However, I am not willing to let this one lie, given the widespread deterioration of conditions regionally. Substantiating your argument as you just have lends much more credence and puts you at a higher level of dialog than someone who might say "pretty dicky comments" and consequentially you command my respect.

And this wasn't personal:

I trust that both your comments are sincere, but I am also a bit concerned that both trailboss and bushmogulmaster have an invested bias here.

Not sure what I did to you, but sorry. You can't throw something like that out and not expect a response.

We agree to disagree. Everything I said you simply threw back at me. What is clear is that according to billski Stowe was not good, and BMM and TB said that they had a decent day at Sugarbush North.

No, it was not personal. Statement of facts.

2knees has also been very quick to throw personal insults, so it's hard to do anything but ignore him.

I use this place to unwind and share some laughs with people. try not to take yourself so seriously all the time. it usually works. i've met about 50 people from this board and become good friends with a bunch of them. i've helped people out with tickets, shared rides, bought beers, gone mtn biking, even done some happy hours off season.

although, secretly, i think they ignore me too.....

I thought the afternoon was gorgeous today at Mellon with no wind and with the sun out. I talk to alot of guests everyday and all I heard today from most was that the skiing and riding was good. They are aware of the weather challenges of the last few days and had a realistic perspective. The way the past week has gone, a day without any wind makes a big diference.

With Fridays's non-crystallized liquid percipitation and knowing it was going to freeze overnight the groomers had to wait till midnight on Friday to start due to the wet snow and worked hard into the morning. I noticed the old yellow groomer coming down along skiers left of lower straightshot around 10ish, pretty unusual sight.

Saturday night they hit it hard again and IMHO that is why the skiing and riding was decent today .I call them like I see them, ask anyone. I bet there was decent skiing and riding today at other resorts around the northeast.

The skiing was pretty good at Shawnee Peak yesterday. The groomers were in good shape, and the untracked snow was awesome. Anything that was ungroomed but skied on before the rain was solid though. All in all not anywhere near as bad as I expected. A foot of snow today will go a long way towards helping things out.
