I wish Greek Peak success with their Waterpark/Condo/Hotel project.

I did go to 1 of those skier meetings in Feb. about plans for the ski area expansion and upgrades. Greek Peak can get financing for 15 million from a bank in Tennesse for expansion. They want to put in a High Speed Quad going from where the beginner chair is all the way up to the very top beyond where chair 4 now ends. There is an existing road that runs up behind the Ski center. So they want to build an additional ski-lodge and parking lot up on the peak of virgil moutain. They also want to put a beginner area up there. They also want to cut some new trails and glades off the peak and down to the Arcadian Gate trail. To make all this work they have to double the number of skiers per year they currently have. I think this may be more of a PR gimmick to help sell those condo quater shares over at the new waterpark. I am not sure where at Greek Peak would be the best spot for a High Speed Quad. I'm also thinking that the expansion may end up being smaller than now planned.

Forgot-----the "gimmick" thing you mentioned, I agree 100%. I hope I'm worng but I think Greek is losing focus on our little ski hill. I can hardly recall the last "update" they made on the hill, and it shows. The chair 5 area has sooooo much potential----I just hope I'm around to see it. That said, were still lucky to have it in the back yard.

I know the lack of a high speed lift has kept me from Greek Peak..it's 2009..they should modernize!!!

Agree, not that high speed is the save all but it certainly is a good step in the right direction, All they would need is the one (where Rambo stated" and things would be sooooo much better.

Thanks for posting the pics, it looks like the lodge is moving right along - I'm looking forwrd to next season at gp as a home mountain away from home. I don't think anything (including the lifts) move too fast there though. The WHOLe mountain has so much potential - one of the reasons we bought one of the 1/4 shares. Hopefully the high speed lift is next - they'll need it if they start filling that lodge. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out over the next few years...time to make a mtb/camping and sipping trip up to check out the lodge in person

You'll like it!!! There's also a "new" bar/rest that has opened just down the road called "The Gatherings". I say "new" because it's the old rafters. Stop in and check it out, think you'll like it.
