I'm very quickly loosing my staple of active Patriots Jersey's! Since a Bruschi, a Seymour and 2 Brady's hang in my closet!

Seymour is an AWESOME force (when he's healthy - and that's been maybe 50% of the time the last couple of seasons). The folks though that sit in row 1 of roughly section 130 must be at a loss, as I stare across at the sign they hang on the stadium wall saying "Seymour's Sack Pack" every game ;) Can't wait to see what will be up a week from tonight!

hmmmm.........or we could be smart like the Steelers brain trust and just cut Seymour like the Steelers had to cut great players, like they have Joey Porter and Levon Kirkland at the end of the season to get under the cap.

I'll take a likely top 10 pick over nothing thanks

Three seasons ago I would have wanted Belichik's head, but not with a player in Seymour that has been injury prone the past few years, is about to turn 30 and will likely be stupidly over paid next season by a losing franchise.

why are you bringing up Joey Porter and Levon Kirkland? what do they have to do with the patriots dumping their best defensive player? But since you mentioned it, Kirkland sucked when they got rid of him and porter was a cap casulty. And just in case you didnt notice, the steelers did just fine without him last year. I believe they led in the NFL in fewest points, yards per play, yards per game, passing defense and on and on and on. Oh, and I think they won a little trophy at the end of the year. But good point, you really hit a home run with that analysis.

Now go kneel at the altar of the hoodie and drink some more Brady Kool Aid.......

i cant wait for next weekend.

You seriously think this will keep them from rolling over the AFC East? Seymour was no longer their best player. Maybe a few years ago when he played a full season. I guess Mayo or even Wilfork is the best now on D. Seymour was gone next season anyway, getting a first rounder, which could possibly yield several second and third rounder's, while being able to sign Wilfork was a good move. It may take several games for the D to jell, especially the secondary, but they'll be fine. The real question is weather teams will be able to hang with the Pats offensivley?

The point being, the Steelers would have been better off trading for something, instead of letting a player go for nothing.

Seymour is hardly the best defensive player on the Pats. Jarrod Mayo is with Wilfork being second. In a 4-3, Seymour becomes more expendable. My guess is Belichik sees something in Ron Brace.

As for the Koolaide, I'll definitely keep on drinking it. It tastes mighty good when you've been the class of the league for a decade. Hell, the Pats went 11-5 minus the best player in the league last season with a quarterback who hadn't started a game since High School.

Congrats on the title last year, but New England has unquestionably been the best team in the NFL since 2001.

and yes, New England will still roll the AFC East right now and be a SB contender without Seymour.

Exactly! If Brady stays healthy, this could very well be like 2 years ago where an opponent's offense pretty much knows going into the game that you need hang atleast 30-35 on the board to have a chance.

And even at the start of the season waiting for the D to gel a bit, I still have faith that they'll be able to keep most teams under 30.

they may roll through the regular season in that weak ass division but they'll get torched in the playoffs. That defense isnt going to stop anybody and if the pre-season is any indication, Brady is gonna be chewing turf all season long, or at least until he gets killed. The dynasty is over, well its been over, but pats fans cant seem to understand that.

Here we go steelers, here we go.

It's funny, Steelers and Jets fan continually attack New England more than any other team. I take that as as either A. a sign of respect or B. an inferiority complex.

On the flip side, I really don't think about the Steelers. I think about the Colts because of A.

The dynasty? New England can still be a top ten team in the NFL, even during what might be perceived as a re-building year. That's the goal, sustained success.

Congrats on the title last year, but New England has unquestionably been the best team in the NFL since 2001.

that would be true if this was the start of the '05 season.

by my tally, its 2 steeler titles since then to ZERO for the patriots. and in reality, with the total fluke of '01 and all the cheating and drug use on the pats in the past 10 years, I'd say the steelers were the team of the past decade. 2 superbowls, 4 afc championship games, no cheating and no steriod and morphine users. or whatever that o-lineman got busted for selling. forget the details right now.

Can't wait for Brady and Moss...

The D will be OK... in the 4-3 Seymour was much more expendable, and the 4-3 has to be where they're headed with the departure of linebackers...

I get to watch opening night (MNF) in Vegas... Can't wait.

Belichik and Brady have the highest winning percentage of a player / coach combination in history. I will not trade that for anything and if the shoe was on the other foot and you could say the same thing as Rothlisberger......you wouldn't either.

but thanks for playing

True, weak ass division. Hoping the Pats torch,... errr play, the Steelers again in the playoffs! And no, pre-season in no indication! I'd be more worried about the Steelers chance of even making the playoffs! Cincinnati looked good in the pre-season!
