I'm not going to say it was a serene mountain experience what with the snow guns blowing, but there were quality turns to be had this morning on T2. A "White Ribbon" but not really "Of Death" as it was not crowded at all. The real novelty was skiing amid impressive foliage -- though there also was a little natural snow in the trees/on the ground at higher elevations, and even some flurries for a few minutes.

More later.

Nicely done. Sounds like you knew what to expect and hit it.

How was the progress on mid and lower Punch. I would enjoy not walking down tomorrow. Not much for the downloading, but not upset by it, cause we will be making turns.

Nice! Good on you to get turns today!

BobR, I'd rather download than walk down. I remember downloading with you last year. Was it something I said that turned you off on downloading? I promise to keep my mouth shut next time.=)

When I got there, just before 9 a.m., they were blowing snow on Punch down to the base. They shut the guns below midstation by around 11 a.m. Was a pretty thin ribbon at the bottom but higher up looked pretty healthy. I suspect it'll be only T2 tomorrow (Friday) but a decent chance of top-to-bottom over the weekend.

You can get a glimpse of the top of Punch here:

Meanwhile, here's action on T2:

That was as crowded as it got. There were some water bars to dodge and in spots the surface was a little crusty (this got better as it got skied) but the biggest challenge was visibility with the snow guns blasting.

I skied a solid 2.5 hours, 10 or 11 laps on T2. Got decent leg burn by the end and was tired enough to make a couple silly falls on my last run. A fine outing.

I would have posted video or pics from Barker Lodge but 1) wifi connectivity was a little choppy and 2) I was in a bit of a hurry to get home and proceed to indulge one of my other great outdoor passions, surf fishing. The skiing was better than the fishing (I got skunked) but still this was the first time I've ever skied and fished in the same day.

Just saw this and thankx. I got wet with the guns this morning, Looks like the very bottom may be an issue for top to bottom. Maybe ok. Just the last 40 yards seem to be the issue. I had a blast. If you were a person who bitches the morning would have got your attention. I had a blast today.

I was hoping that you were still looking into it, that's why I mentioned it. Kind of a little nudge.. ;)
....voice generated, blink one eye and your phone snaps a pic or starts the video. Blink 2x to stop. Voice generated to upload...;-) May not be that far off. Would certainly be the knife-in-the-back to fellow workers while you're on vacation...
