It's in the rumer mill, and moving the Quad to the west side!! I think it's crazy, the mtn gets skied off by noon on busy weekends, this would make it even sooner. If they want to do something, change out the complete electroincs on the quad and leave the price of lift tix alone again. Oh yeh, have the season passholders discount be at the bar also!

A 6 pack doesn't make a lot of sense to me, unless they're planning on adding more terrain. Moving the quad to the west side sounds dumb, especially considering it's service record of late.

But I will believe it when I see the new towers being flown in during the summer...

...Word...

But now I wonder about the whole Zipline thing... Would it get done BEFORE the zip is in?

To be fair, the new Y liftline extension shows that they're planning something...

I like the 6 pack at Ragged. Really no different than a HSQ to me. I've asked a few employees at the mountain why they went with the 6 instead of a Quad and they said they due better in the wind because the chairs weigh 1200 pounds. Just here say and I'm not sure how valid that information is regarding wind.

They could have the 6 capacity equal to the current 4 capacity and expand the 6 capacity if and when they expand the terrain. It would be in Hunter's best interest to have a new lift on the main mountain access. Putting the hsq on the west would allow me to get my feet on the footrests.

Or were... But it is intriguing...

The placement of the cut puts it in range of the traditional X Trail exit..

Which further adds to the mystery... Will there be an official X Trail? With access to the "new" Y chair? Will A become Z or Y? Or will Z become X?
Will all that sweet terrain over in the X Trail area get snowmaking?

Is Hunter's asking for a grant to create a reservoir on Demming Road(new the west side) to feed said expansion..

i say the facts are there to back the rumors... But why not talk about it?

Hopefully this has been fixed. If not at least I would be comfortable.

It's fixed right now.... Quad has been kicking ass - I'm not aware of any issues since they repaired it

Great...more yardsalers on Clairs to be had...leave that chair alone..it works!!!

I think they are going to leave Z - put the quad where the Y is and expand terrain...

Makes sense to me. What do you think, following the Y liftline exactly? And how far past Purna does Hunter own?

As an observation, as far as I can tell from hunter's filings, they're granted/soon to be granted those permits....and a 20 million gallon reservoir isn't exactly small either.

Either way, if they can find a way to get one good intermediate run in there, that'll help them a lot (even if I would love more expert terrain).

My understanding about both Hunter and Windham is they can not increase lift capacity until they increase trail capacity. I have heard rumors about each resort researching ways to increase trail capacity for the last 5-yrs. None substantiated as of yet. Regarding Windham, every year I hear people say that Windham wants to put new trails down the back side of the G-lift peak. Considering how busy the trails are at Hunter on weekends, I just couldn't imagine a 6-pass lift.

Didn't Windham open a new trail or two a few years ago?

Blue has a 6pack and it rocks. Coincidentally , they also opened up new terrain after the 6 pack went in.

According to the tax maps they own past Purna and even past the X trail.
Company is called "Far West Inc."

I hope they transfer (or install) a lift on the X Trail. I feel like putting a lift in line with the current Y-lift, alot of expansion possibilities are lost. Getting the unloading point further up the ridge line towards the true hunter summit would be awesome!

they own past Lower K27 as well... a Chair up the Y could service that ridge as well :)
