Going to be interesting to see if the relatively pricetags on the I'm guessing will be multiple Intrawest resorts that will be sold off in the coming probably 12 months will rival some of the firesales prices that some of the former ASC resorts went for a few years ago.

I think that is a very logical forecast but as Root's link showed from yesterday, Intrawest/Fortress are hoping to hang on so they can get more from their properties(no kidding) than, like ASC had to do, sell at fireside prices.

It's ironic that ASC got top dollar for Steamboat, it was before the ASC ship was definately going down, from Intrawest, who many believe overpaid for the Boat. Some ASC resorts did get sold for what I would call firesale prices, some for market value. Maybe we should have a thread for sale price predictions if/when other Intrawest resorts get sold.

SRO, with respect to Steamboat, one could easily say that the last 2 times it was sold that it went for a price quite above what many considered to be it's true market value ;)

Also, it seems that with the current quiver of resorts that Intrawest owns vs. the quiver that ASC once owned, that Intrawest has done a greater job of already developing the real estate potential than ASC did, so from that standpoint to a potential real estate devloper looking to buy for future devlopment, there isn;t as much available as for the former properties. Who knows, somebody might actually have to operate a ski resort as a ski resort and not a real estate development with a ski area attached to it! ;)

Irony would be that place getting sold during the Olympics.

Maybe Shawn White will buy it.
