Is it worth it?

We leave Thursday and arrive SLC at 12:53. It would certainly seem possible to get a couple hrs of turns in before dinner.

However: "*First Time and Payday Lifts open for night skiing and riding 12/25/09-3/28/10."

So this would mean skiing only off those 2 lifts. Does anyone know how accessible they are from town via foot?

Payday services 1200+ vert so it may be worth it if it is a nice night...

Been there, done that. FWIW, the run off of payday isn't that much different than Canyon at Mount Snow. When my wife and I did that a few years back, PCMR had basically a 1/2 day + evening pass that we got - we were on the hill after checking into our condo and unpacking the ski gear less than 2 hours after our plane touched down in SLC. We were on the hill just about 2:30, got about 5 or 6 runs in on the rest of the mountain before they went from full mountain day operations down to just Payday, made about 2 or 3 runs on Payday, got bored, and then went to check out the various eating and drinking establishments along Main street in PC. If it's puking snow, might be fun, otherwise, it's a novelty kind of thing. Ride the 6 pack, see the lights of PC, etc.

IMHO, if you want some night skiing with some potential the day you fly out, goto Brighton. Much more lit terrain at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon than at PCMR. My wife and I did that too on another trip out there(our previous trip was when we hit PCMR right after the plane). Went right from the airport upto to Brighton, changed in the lodge, skied from about 3 to 7 (much more and better night skiing terrain there, but again, it's more of a novelty thing than a full appreciation of what the mountain really has to offer) and then drove around to PC and checked into our condo by about 8:15.

Of our now 7 trips to Utah, we skied the 1st two the afternoon we arrived, and haven't since (nor had the desire to) and haven't felt like we missed anything - better to have a rested fresh set of legs for a full day of full mountain skiing in our mind

Also, if you're staying in PC proper and access to the mountain, you're generally not much further than a 5 to 10 minute walk max from either the mountain itself or the very efficient PC buses(kind of like how you're never too far from a Moover stop when your up at Mount Snow ;) ), so accessibility isn't an issue

Thanks for the info Doc. Will take under advisement. We aren't renting a car, so Brighton is out. Was mostly just looking for a way to pad the ski day count (esp. after missing this past Sunday) and maybe see the sites from a cool view. We'll see what the lady agrees to...

where its snowing
did it at Park City a few years back...
I was out for a week, and I probably wouldn't do it again -- not much terrain, felt to me like night skiing at wachusett... fun cause youre on snow, but thats about it....

If it was free, or your trip was short, maybe... but otherwise, I wouldn't bother and stick to daytime...

I remember Park City had a 'Town Lift' -- not sure if that is one of the two you mentioned....

Yeah, the town lift is not included. Between the 2 Sundays I've lost this year to weather/windholds, the 2 I lost to disorganization/not realizing I had a shot at 50 soon enough (arrival and departure days on Jan. trip to Utah), the 2 I lost to sickness (midweek at Camelback, day of arrival in JH), and the 2 I am now losing so that my fiancee's family can have an engagement party for us (April 17th+18th  ), it looks like I have no chance to get to 50 days, so I will prob just bag it for the night time skiing in PC, and instead take the sleigh ride or something like that.
