I wouldn't count on Sugarloaf being open till may, its not looking good down low, they'll probably close 4-19, but thats ok, because The Largest Glade in the East is going to be cut this summer

Is this the news I heard about last week? I was talking with one of the mucky-mucks on Spillway East and he said there were a few announcements being made this month. I heard a rumor that one of them was replacement of the Spillway lift in general?

Spillway will be replaced during the summer of 2011 according to skilifts.org with a detachable quad.

I booked a room at the loaf for April 30th and May 1st. I can get out of it if the mountain is not open. I plan on being there. Probably the 25th and 26th as well.

Detachable quad is highly unlikely for Spillway. Insider reports from the mountain say FG this summer.

Maybe there will be a detachable for Double Runner, but the top of Spillway has absolutely no room for a HSQ terminal unless they made said terminal super-exposed to the wind.

I would typically buy into most things on skilifts.org, but not this one.

Maybe so but it doesn't change what I said in my post.

also think depending on what Sugarloaf does, the comparison isn't apples to apples.

Slidebrook is more slackcountry than a developed and patrolled glade. I'm taking nothing away from what a great experience Slidebrook is, but it's really not a 'glade' so to speak with defined entrances and borders on the trail map.

Again depending on what Sugarloaf does, it could very well be the largest glade in the East and I think it's hard to find fault in them making that claim.

Well considering I didn't hear gripes about false marketing with their largest lift served glade in the east, which is what 75 acres? Thus wouldn't the initial 150 acre glade at Sugarloaf be the biggest in the east? Plus by 2012 it will be 450 acres if reports are true. Should be interesting. BTW for those who have hiked over to Burnt during the winter what is the snow like over there? Does it hold snow well? Can't wait to hear official announcements and see if rumors are half true.

Right now rumors are new quad on spillway, surface lift, and 150 acres on Burnt correct?
